Painted Passion - An Update!

Long time since my last post, but finally there is news!  Not that I haven't been writing and editing in the interim.

However, my manuscript will be released....wait for it....

CHRISTMAS EVE!!

Yes, that's right.  December 24th, my debut novel with Ellora's Cave.

I'm too psyched!!  I'll share the cover as soon as I can.

Painted Passion - An Update

The first round of edits are complete and the manuscript was returned.  My editor was laid-off in the recent upheaval at EC.  Painted Passion is ready for line edits so I'm in a wait mode on this story. I don't have a cover yet, but will post the news once I know.

Metamorphosis Update

This is my Metamorphosis Update.  Yes, I did indeed lose weight and inches.  Yay!  TBS (the big sis) is convinced I'm smaller than I think I am.  However, being that it's my body (and I know my body), she's incorrect. I lost two dress sizes. (i.e., new clothes)  Now, I simply want to continue to tone and tighten.

In my opinion, the key to any type of exercise program or gym is consistency.  Since I adore food (and it loves me back), I must keep moving.  Dang. That just reminded me of Dory in Finding Nemo. Just keep swimming...just keep swimming.

Back to editing!

Edits are Coming...

My edits are coming my way this month from Ellora's Cave. GULP. I'm excited and just a twinge apprehensive. I wonder how any things I can back out of by using my soon-to-be all-consuming edits. Just off the top of my head, how about these:
  • I really wish I could help you with your project, but I have edits.
  • I meant to wash that load of clothes, but those edits really took a lot out of me.
  • Was I suppose to take the dog to the vet? Oh man, those edits don't leave a lot of time to do much else.
  • Dinner? Are you really hungry? We could stand to skip a meal.
LOL.  Now, where'd I see the discount for housecleaning?  I have a feeling I'll need it.

Kissable Lips

As an author of romance, there are times when you write scenes in which your characters kiss.  And why not?  It's a pleasurable activity.  But you don't usually read about characters who struggle with dry lips, right? I reason then, why should the author?  I've been on a quest to find the perfect lip accessories for quite a few years. I can't tell you how many tubes (empty, half-used, and never opened) I've tossed out. Perhaps I'm not trying the right brand you might think.  But, my "didn't work for me" pile included drugstore brands to high-end brands. When I found a shade I liked, the lasting power wouldn't make it beyond my morning coffee. And when I located one with staying power, the color shouted, "look at me. I'm doing a dry-run for Halloween."

Most balms and stains did nothing but dry my lips out and the glosses never lasted.  Even after exfoliating my lips, I was constantly reapplying. Nothing kills romance faster than having to look in a mirror to check the status of my lips before puckering up.

What's a girl who yearns for kissable lips to do? I'm probably the last person to discover the fantastic lipgloss and sticks from NYX Cosmetics.  But, since my experience wearing their products is beyond amazing, I couldn't keep the news to myself.

The first time I wore my NYX lipgloss, the color remained as did the softness of my lips. I figured it was a fluke. I mean, surely this product didn't actually do what it promised.  So, I tried another color.  Same result. After using the glosses for two weeks (and I might add, receiving compliments), I'm in love with NYX.

I'm currently using the butter glosses. Try them and see if they work for you. Remember, exfoliate first, apply, and then kiss away! (No I'm not an employee. Just a satisfied customer).

An Admission of Sorts

Yes, I fell off the wagon.  BUT, I climbed back on.  Consistency is clearly the key.  I missed roughly four days.  Why? Life intruded. Family obligations here, deadline there. It was baaddd.  Dust bunnies dusted me off instead of the other way around.  A lack of sleep kept my eyes closing so much coffee did nothing to keep me awake.  I guess when your body decides it needs rest there’s not much you can do to prevent it.

I like the Metamorphosis tapes and I do see a difference.  I’m on the next set of workouts for Days 11-20.   I will say this though, I’m not a huge fan of cardio.  I feel like I’m an authority on workout tapes considering I have a “library” of them (at least that what I’m told).  I can do only so many jumping jacks, mountain climbers, etc. before my rebellious nature kicks in and I reach for the remote to turn the TV off.  What's someone like me to do? I get my cardio by dancing.  I know, I know.  I’m not following the Metamorphosis program to a “T.”  However, I work much harder if a great beat backs my moves (sort of like how I could leave Usain Bolt in the dust if a bear ran behind me).

My musical tastes are eclectic for sure (After sending off my taxes last night, I felt the need to hear Tupac. Don't judge me). Yep, nothing like shaking a little somethin’ somethin’ to a favorite song.  After my “cardio,”  I was fired up and ready to lift and tone.

Try it, it might work for you too.  And if not, at least you’ll be in a good mood.
